This is the true story of two teenagers (David Graham and Diane Zamora) who where honor students that killed a young teenage girl (Adrianne Jones) in the name of love. After the murder, Graham and Zamora went about life as usual: attended classes, accepted honors, went to dances, etc. They were accepted into the Air Force and Naval Academy respectively.For months, there were no leads about the murder until Diane Zamora confessed to her roommates at the Naval Academy one evening that she and her boyfriend had a secret that they would take to their graves. The next day, Zamora's roommates turned her in; she was required to take a leave of absence and was sent home pending investigation. Meanwhile, Graham was questioned and he typed a chilling confession discussing his part in the murder and how he carried it out. When Diane was arrested, she too wrote a chilling confession describing her part in the murder. Both were charged with murder.
Graham and Zamora had promising careers in the military where they were given special honors. They were engaged to be married. They will never fulfill their dreams and have no one except themselves to blame for that. We will never know what Adrianne Jones could have done with her life. She, too was an honors student with much promise.
Although, I liked reading this book and learned much from it, I am disapointed that the author didn't wait until the Zamora and Graham trials ended. I would have liked more information about their trials. Otherwise, the author seems to be accurate as he was writing/researching this book.

Great story,what a waste of life ! The future could not have been any brighter.
Where did they go wrong?
Excellent book. Well written. I finished this in one evening. Tragic story and this book delves deeper into the lives of each before and after the murder. Very detailed.
It's an interesting read despite the choppy writing and random inserts by witnesses. A mysterious story but reader gains little insight as to how it could have all happened.
Highly anticipated reading with such a fascinating story but the writing was repetitive and abruptly ended. Disappointing and not recommended.
This was a well written and fascinating book. The author undoubtedly did a huge amount of research and it shows!
This book was a good read, but the wording could have been better. There were sentences that were too short. The writer also had run on sentences. It's the reason I gave it four stars.
David and Diane may have seen like a fairytale couple. They were anything but! I think Diane may have been the mastermind in the killing of Adrianne. She seemed to be a sweet, innocent girl but that's just what she wanted everyone to believe. She was manipulative and David did everything she asked! David couldn't say no! But then again, who really knows what these two lovers were really thinking? They're lucky that Adrianne's parents asked for a life sentence rather than the death penalty. But even better because they can forever live with their guilt. Adrianne got her justice and I pray her soul rests in peace.
